Around the table - October 2023

Cr Sam Coupland Mayor Armidale Regional Council, Cr Kylie King Mayor Albury City Council, Cr Jason Hamling Mayor Orange City Council, Treasurer of New South Wales The Hon Daniel Mookhey MLC, Cr Mathew Dickerson Mayor Dubbo Regional Council, Cr Russell Webb Mayor Tamworth Regional Council, Cr Steve Kreig Mayor Lismore City Council, Cr Peter Walker Mayor Goulburn-Mulwaree Council.

The RCNSW board was pleased to meet with the Treasurer of NSW the Hon Daniel Mookey MLC to discuss the important issues for regional cities – housing, skill shortages, connectivity and lack of community infrastructure.

We also had a useful discussion with the Hon Jenny Aitchison MP Minister for Regional Roads and Transport regarding the RCNSW Pinch Point Program and the regional road network.

Our board also secured a meeting with the Hon Tara Moriarty MLC Minister for Agriculture, Regional New South Wales and Western New South Wales to discuss the role of regional cities and our key advocacy priorities.

We met with the Hon Paul Scully MP Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, to discuss the importance of accurate population forecasting and planning for regional cities.

Our Board had productive discussions with the Hon Rose Jackson MLC Minister for Water, Housing, Homelessness, Youth and Mental Health regarding the housing crisis impacting regional cities.

We also met with the Hon John Graham MLC Minister for Roads, Arts, Music, Jobs and Tourism to discuss the regional road network, particularly the Regional Transport Pinch Point Program.

In addition, we were pleased to meet with the office of the Hon Chris Minns MP Premier of NSW regarding the critical role of regional cities in the NSW economy and the growth pressures our cities are facing.

We also met with Mr Stephen Lawrence MLC and Ms Janelle Safin MP to discuss the infrastructure pressures in their local areas.
