Energy Installations and Renewables
Regional Cities New South Wales (RCNSW) put forward a submission to the New South Wales Government, advocating for greater consideration of the impact of renewable and energy installations on our communities.
While RCNSW acknowledges the significant benefits of renewable energy, it is important to understand and manage the impacts of energy installations.
As the footprint of the renewables industry grows, RCNSW is proposing four key actions to increase the long-term benefits for regional cities.
These are:
1. That a new ‘energy’ rating category be introduced;
2. That a bond arrangement be established to enable local government to manage the disposal of energy infrastructure at retirement of operational life;
3. That a Renewable Energy Community Benefits Fund be introduced to return benefits to local communities; and
4. That the State Government defer significant waste management facility applications in regional NSW until there is clear direction on assessment standards.
