Mr Aaron Johansson

Aaron Johansson commenced as Chief Executive Officer at Goulburn Mulwaree Council (GMC) in July 2022.

With a strong foundation in Banking, Finance & Accounting, he has worked in senior roles for multinational companies in the Education and Resources industries with a focus on building corporate capacity, culture and efficiencies.

Having found is calling in local government over a decade ago, he is passionate about building a result focused culture to meet the needs of growing communities.

Aaron is a Chartered Accountant with several degrees in Finance as well as an MBA in International Business. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and in his spare time is completing a Master’s in Public Policy, focusing on local government sector issues.

In his short tenure at GMC, Aaron has spearheaded several key initiatives, like to his Organisational Development Plan. The plan, developed in conjunction with both elected members and all staff seeks to drive positive change through Council and its service delivery to community.  He places a strong emphasis on ensuring staff safety, fostering a secure and supportive work environment.

Originally hailing from Queensland, Aaron relocated with his wife and daughter, later joined by his son and daughter in-law. In a significant personal milestone, Aaron welcomed his first grandchild, a boy, in November 2023.

Known for his strategic vision, commitment to excellence, and innovative leadership style, Aaron is dedicated to driving positive change within Goulburn Mulwaree Council. His contributions have been instrumental in shaping the organisation's trajectory and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth.
