Cr Robert ‘Stumpy’ Taylor
Mayor Robert Taylor is best known in the community as 'Stumpy' and has strong family and business ties to Bathurst.
His grandparents and parents are from Bathurst and Robert himself raised his family here. In 1933, Robert’s grandfather served as an alderman.
Robert's parents ran a popular and successful glass business in Bathurst and at 16 he joined the family business, where he worked for 20 years. He ventured into hospitality and managed hotels in Raymond Terrace and Quakers Hill before returning home and taking ownership of the iconic Dudley Hotel in 1993. Robert managed the Dudley Hotel for 23 years and, as its publican, would always have time to have a friendly chat with the patrons.
Robert is very community minded and is on the board of the Greens on William, President of the Bathurst Liquor Accord, and is a former trustee of Logan Brae.
Cr Taylor was elected to Council in December 2021 and elected Mayor. He served in the role for two years.
Council Taylor was re-elected for his second term on Council in October 2024 and was re-elected for his second term as Mayor.
