A win for regional policy - September 2021
Regional Cities NSW has been making progress on our strategic policy positions with a number of submissions including the Regional Cities Airports Submission Paper which contributed to an increase in funding for regional airports, particularly impacted by COVID.
We put forward an Energy Installations and Renewables Position Paper to the government, to advocate for a longer-term view on the value of energy and waste for regional cities.
We successfully advocated for a change to the Emergency Services Levy , altering how the levy is applied, to allow communities to be better served in the face of an emergency.
Our Board made a Regional Housing Taskforce Submission, and also met with the Chair of the New South Wales Regional Housing Taskforce to discuss potential policy solutions to address ongoing regional housing shortages.
We also made submission to the IPART Review of the Rate Peg to Include Population Growth, contributing to a re-evaluation of this process so as to strike a better balance between population growth, development and financial sustainability.
