A win for regional cities - September 2021

COVID lockdowns have highlighted the importance of good digital coverage to enable regional people to work, learn and connect.  It was gratifying to see our advocacy in this area pay off, with the recent announcement of additional Business Fibre Zones in regional areas.

We are continuing to make the case for improvements to regional telecommunications, and I personally have been on WIN News television and ABC radio’s Drive Program across encouraging people to make a submission to the 2021 Regional Telecommunications Review.

Fast-tracking regional investment was a key platform in our pre-budget submission, and we were thrilled to see the Snowy Mountains designated as a Special Activation Precinct and Albury and Namoi successfully selected as Regional Job Precincts.  The initiatives these regions are a testament to the hard work of local representatives Queanbeyan-Palerang, Albury City Council and Tamworth Regional Council.
